Hello everyone, now i'm going to tell you two methods to find your camera actuations or shutter counts. Now, if you've been the sole owner or it's never been in for repair, this should be an accurate way of telling how many pictures you've actually taken.
I know there's some discussion on the web that it's not accurate and it could be reset or it could be hacked and yes, that's absolutely true. But like i said if you've been the sole owner or it's never been in for repair, this will give you a good indication of how many pictures you've taken.
The first method i'm going to show you is a free tool. If you go to google and you type in "exiftool by Phil Harvey" and it will show you his website. Click on this exif tool now. He's got two versions, one is windows executable and one is for the mac OS. Download it to your dekstop and then extract it to it's own folder.
This is a dose program. However, you don't have to go to a DOS prompt to start typing commands. The beauty of this program is that you take the file that you want and you drop it onto the executable. It will bring up a dos window and read your files. It will show tons of information. The line that you're looking for is where it says "shutter count", and look to the right and you will see how many times your camera has taken pictures.
The second method I'm going to tell you is adobe photoshop cs5. Open your picture in adobe photoshop. Clik file and go to file info. Scroll all the way over to the right where it says "raw data". Look down for the line where it says "image number" and you will see the number of picture.
So there's two method to find out how many pictures you've taken with your camera. If you want to sell your camera, everybody's going to ask that question, "How many pictures has it taken?" So this should give you a good indication of how many you've taken.
